St. Vincent de Paul home visits help people recognize they have self-worth. Our work is about preserving families, listening to them, holding them together, and affirming their human dignity.
Compelled to action by the convictions of our founders, St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle|King County joins the community to listen, engage, and build relationships that assist and advocate for individuals and families to meet basic needs and achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
Our Mission Statement:
“Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic volunteer organization, leads individuals to join together to offer person-to-person service to the poor and the suffering. In doing this work, we all enrich our lives spiritually.”
We have a dedicated group of volunteers (Vincentians) here at St. Bridget and Assumption Parishes who carry out the work of St. Vincent de Paul. The support of our two parishioner groups allows us to carry out our mission. Thank you for the cash donations, donations to our food bank, donations to our stores, and prayers. With your assistance, we are able to help prevent eviction, hunger, and utility shut-offs and provide compassionate assistance to anyone who needs help.
If you or someone you know is in need of assistance call the St. Vincent de Paul Assistance line at 206-767-6449.

The PREPARES program is a ministry sponsored by the statewide Catholic bishops to provide a nurturing response to mothers and fathers who have chosen the precious gift of life: the promise of direct support and assistance from pregnancy to their child’s fifth birthday. Regardless of religious beliefs, this parish-based program administered by Catholic Community Services offers low-income families, vital life-affirming services.
The St. Bridget’s PREPARES ministry will be coordinated by Judy Curran and Mary Jo Gasparich. They are meeting with the PREPARES team and our parish St. Vincent de Paul ministry to determine how St. Bridget’s can best serve the PREPARES mission.
Here are some of the ways parishes in our state participate in PREPARES:
Family Companions: Parish volunteers are matched to a mom or dad from the community by the parish PREPARES Coordinator. Companions offer their guidance and support, meeting in person with their mom or dad for one or two hours a week and enjoying activities such as games, crafts, exercise, cooking, etc.
Clothing Closet: Parishes provide a clothing and/or diaper closet that families can access at the parish. Such outreach provides a loving resource hub for the community. Diapers are especially needed as they are a huge expense for low-income families and are not covered by food stamps.
Fatherhood group: Parishes invite fathers from the community to come for an evening of discussion and support.
Fundraising: Parises lead or support fund-raising efforts to support efforts at their parish or go directly to the PREPARE WW Fund which supports families throughout the Archdiocese.
Please contact Judy or Mary Jo to join them in this planning effort for our parish or if you have ideas to share. Judy Curran: 206-999-5399, [email protected] ; Mary Jo Gasparich: 206-330-1253, [email protected].
