The ministry of ushering is one of welcoming and caring for the congregation.  By greeting each member of the congregation with kindness and respect, the usher sets the mood of reverence, both for the Lord and for the Divine that is in each individual.

The duties of the usher are simple but important.  They include welcoming the members of the congregation, assisting in seating, collection of the offerings, the presentation of the offerings, and also helping in situations involving safety (e.g., knowing where the fire extinguisher is located.)  The ushers also distribute the bulletins at the end of mass and clean up the church pews.  Simple but important tasks.

The Usher Coordinator makes every effort to schedule each usher only once per month, and can make accommodations, such as scheduling the usher when his or her child is scheduled to be an altar server.
