Charitable Outreach Committee The Charitable Outreach Committee is actually a permanent subcommittee of the Pastoral Council, established to give direction to the Pastor and Administrator regarding the identification of suitable charities for adoption as "parish charities." Individual parishioners and groups have the autonomy to support their own choice of charities, but to be identified as a "parish charity" means that the parish will make a major focus on that charity, for education and financial support. Examples of those charities are the ministry and outreach to the families at Children's Hospital, the work of the Sacred Heart Shelter, and our sister parish relationship with Namitembo Mission in Malawi, Africa. In March of 2006, a delegation of seven -- four youth and three adults from St. Bridget -- made a trip to Ecuador to visit David Gaus and his hospital project, called the Andean Health and Development (for more information, see their website: www.andeanhealth.com) , located in the small town of Pedro Vincente Maldonado, in a rural area about 90 minutes from Quito. The resulting conversations from the trip ultimately resulted in the following proposal. The proposal has not yet been adopted, partly because the parish has not yet finished its commitment to Namitembo Mission. The Committee is chaired by Will Ashbaugh, and staffed by Deacon Denny Duffell, who can be reached at 523-8787.
